The Nutrikids Program
We want to make it easier for you!
Let’s face it getting ready for school in the morning while you may be trying to get out the door yourself is no small task. RSU 22 has put together a program to help you streamline your morning routine.
The Nutrikids program is offered system-wide to allow families to pre-pay for all student meals: breakfast, lunch, snack milk, or a la carte items. You may make deposits as often as you wish; a week at a time, each quarter or even the entire school year. This is a DEBIT system. There must be money in a student’s account to purchase food. If a student’s account gets low, our staff will remind them that it is time to make a new deposit.
Each student is assigned a PIN that will stay with them until he or she graduates. If you have more than one student attending school in the district you may easily manage with a single payment deposited into the respective accounts.
Two ways to make deposits.
- Students may give deposits their teacher or the person collecting school meal money at their school.
Important: Please be sure to put the students name on the envelope with the payment or on the check. If there are multiple students being paid for with one check please indicate the name or student ID number along with the amount to deposit into each account.
- You may also go on-line to myschoolbucks.com to:
- set up an account using the PIN
- deposit money electronically into your child/children’s accounts
- check balances and what your children are eating
For Grades K-5 Only
To start the school year, students in grades K-5 will tell the cashier their name as they go through the line and they will be checked in by name, and the meal will be subtracted from their Nutrikids account. As the year progresses they will be asked to learn their PIN.
Grades 6-12
Grade 6-12 students will pick up their meal or a la carte items, punch their ID number on a keypad, and the amount they spend will be subtracted from their account.
We want students to bring money to cashiers BEFORE lunch, preferably in the morning before school.
If a student at the High School or Middle Schools pays with cash in the serving line, we will not make change at that time. The amount they give the cashier will be deposited into their account.
Some guidelines when things aren’t going so smoothly!
- If the student forgets his or her money, we will allow a negative balance up to 5 meals. However, students may not purchase A La Carte items if there is no money in their account.
Note: Milk is not part of the free lunch program. Purchased with lunch that is brought from home or for snack time milk will costs 55 cents and must be paid for.
- Student’s account balances carry over from year to year. We will advise you of the balance as the end of the year approaches to avoid carrying over positive or negative balances.
Policy on Payment for Food Services;
RSU 22 Policy Adopted by Board of Directors: April 2, 2008
Meals shall either be paid for in advance or paid for at the time of service. However, students will be granted the privilege of charging up to five (5) meals. If the five meal limit has been reached and payment has not been received, the privilege of charging will be revoked.
There will be no charging of a la carte items.
The school district will provide at least one advance written notice prior to attaining the five meal charge limit. If a student exceeds the five meal limit and payment has not been received, a substitute provision will be offered to the student.
The Superintendent of Schools is responsible for the development of regulations necessary to implement this policy.
