Welcome to Samuel L. Wagner Middle School

About Us

Dear Wagner Families

We are pleased to welcome you to Samuel L. Middle School, a unique learning community serving students in grades 5 through 8. Located in Winterport and serving the towns of Frankfort and Winterport, our school is proud to serve a student body of 177 during the 2025–2026 academic year. We are one of two middle schools that make up RSU22, with both middle schools feeding into Hampden Academy for our students’ high school experience.

Our small size fosters a close-knit environment where strong, supportive relationships between students, families, and staff can thrive. In addition to a solid foundation in core academic subjects, students benefit from a well-rounded education that includes classes in technology, art, library, guidance, physical education, and music.

Samuel L. Middle School offers a range of student supports, including a full-time social worker, Title I academic support, and access to special services. To ensure that we meet the diverse academic needs of all learners, we also offer Math Pathways and Gifted and Talented programming. Our students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and extracurricular activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and school spirit.

We are especially proud of our vibrant music program. Our Show Choir and Jazz Band have received statewide recognition for their excellence, reflecting the talent and dedication of both our students and staff.

We are equally proud of our outstanding faculty. Many of our staff members hold advanced degrees and National Board Certification. We are fortunate to have a strong record of staff retention, with many educators having served our school community for over ten years.

For more information about our policies, expectations, and daily procedures, please refer to our Student Handbook.

We look forward to a successful and enriching school year for all.

Angela Pratt, Principal
